JC remained in Boone running the produce and county ham operation. JC built a new country ham facility which opened in 1967. Brothers Howard, Joe, Neil and Olan were all working from the new Charlotte based warehouse. In the year 1961, the Goodnight brothers built a new state of the art food distribution warehouse on Wilkerson Boulevard in Charlotte.

After WWII all the brothers, excluding JC, moved off the mountain to start other divisions of Goodnight Brothers. History: In the 1930’s the brothers were buying produce in Watauga County and selling it to stores and restaurants down the mountain. This is a very popular restaurant and it gets very busy on the weekends, so you may want to get there early for breakfast. However, the coffee was very good and I was thrilled that they had Agave Syrup because I try to avoid refined sugar. There is a biscuit topping bar with lots of jams, jellies, honey, etc., I wish we could have tried them all! I have heard that the mimosas are amazing, but sadly we were there before Noon on a Sunday, so I coudn't order one. The portions are huge, so you could easily share a meal. Everything just seemed to have that extra touch/ingredient that made it outstanding. The biscuits are huge and out of this world! I ordered the country ham biscuit which included fried green tomatoes and cheesy eggs on top of the country ham.unbelievable!! I don't remember what my husband ordered, but he devoured it! There are so many creative items on the menu along with your standard breakfast fare. Absolutely DO NOT miss this place if you are visiting Asheville! My husband and I loved everything about this restaurant.
